Universidad Internacional de La Rioja (UNIR), is a 100% online Spanish University established in 2008. It facilitates an exclusive, innovative, and high-quality virtual model of higher education, leant on a personalized, pro-active, and collaborative distance learning method of instruction. It is established in compliance with the current regulations governing universities, fulfilling all parameters and regulations of the European Higher Education Area.

UNIR currently provides more than 400 academic degrees, namely official diplomas—bachelor, master and doctorate programmes, and private, non-official programmes. A number of Lifelong Learning programmes/courses are also provided to companies’ staff and professionals based on the industry requirements.

Our contribution

to the Digital4Security project

UNIR works on selected scientific and humanistic fields of study focusing on information and communication technologies applied to education (technology-enhanced learning), all designed for practical implementation and subsequent exploitation in the market. The participation of Universidad Internacional de La Rioja in the Digital4Security project is an ambitious European initiative aimed at enhancing cybersecurity capabilities across the continent through interdisciplinary collaboration. UNIR is committed to contributing its expertise and resources to this vital endeavour as a leading academic institution.

At UNIR, our involvement in the Digital4Security project is multifaceted. We are actively engaged in cutting-edge research initiatives to develop innovative cybersecurity solutions, leveraging our faculty’s expertise in cryptography, network security and artificial intelligence. Through collaborative research projects with industry partners and other academic institutions, we aim to push the boundaries of knowledge and develop practical tools and techniques to mitigate emerging cyber threats via a master’s degree education.

UNIR offer specialised knowledge in courses and training programs in cybersecurity, equipping the next generation of professionals with the skills and knowledge needed to tackle complex cyber challenges. By integrating real-world case studies and practical exercises into our curriculum, we ensure our students are well prepared to address the evolving landscape of cyber threats. UNIR’s participation in the Digital4Security project underscores our commitment to advancing cybersecurity research, education and innovation in Europe.

Our mission

The mission of Universidad Internacional de La Rioja is actively involved in outreach and knowledge dissemination activities as part of the Digital4Security project. We organise workshops, seminars and conferences to facilitate knowledge exchange and collaboration among stakeholders from academia, industry, and government. By fostering an open dialogue and sharing best practices, we aim to promote a culture of cybersecurity awareness and cooperation across Europe.

With a strong commitment to academic excellence and innovation, UNIR spearheads efforts to address the critical need for skilled cybersecurity professionals in Europe. UNIR will also provide its micro-credential expertise for students to obtain an accredited degree with official validity and recognised by the European Union and the rest of the world.

UNIR, as a key partner in the Digital4Security project, is actively involved in designing and developing the master’s degree curriculum. We aim to ensure that programme graduates are well prepared to address digital systems and infrastructure’s diverse and dynamic threats. Furthermore, UNIR actively engages in outreach and dissemination activities to promote the Digital4Security master’s programme across Europe. Furthermore, the Research Institute for Innovation & Technology in Education (UNIR iTED) develops research projects mainly focused on learning Analytics, educational technology and open education.
